SUMMARY:
Position Type: Part Time, Permanent Closing Date: Ongoing Community Living is a non-profit organization providing supports and services to people that promote opportunities for personal growth within their community.
COMMUNITY LIVING CAMPBELLFORD/BRIGHTON is a Nationally Accredited agency and has maintained accreditation at the highest level possible in each of its three quality reviews
Summary of Responsibilities:
This is a challenging position for a person with confidence in their organizational, team building, administrative and communication skills. • Liaise with community groups, employers and others to promote the participation of the community with a developmental disability • Facilitate the development of support networks for each individual and promote the involvement of family, friends and community members in the individual’s life • Identifies and advocates for change of any barriers which inhibit or impede outcome goals • Supports individuals to develop decision making skills, exercise choices, assume responsibilities and reasonable risks • Be aware of an individual’s strengths, needs and preferences and communicate with other support networks including staff • Utilize Personal Outcome Measures to identify outcomes for each individual and implement / promote support plans and organizational processes to achieve outcomes. • Supports each individual to develop skills and assume roles, which promote their effective participation in the life of the community and identify and address any restrictive measures or practices. • Ensures orderly and safe practices and working environment. • Prepares and provides all necessary administrative and service delivery documentation as required by the organizations policies and procedures • Other duties as assigned Education and Experience:
• Ideal candidates will have a Developmental Service Worker Degree/Diploma from a recognized university or community college and a Pharmacology certificate or an acceptable combination of relevant Human Services education, training and work experience in a related social services or skills and work experiences diverse enough to be considered equivalent. • Strong communication abilities, both written and oral; and presentation skills to groups large and small. • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills. • Proficiency with information technology. • Able to maintain a professional attitude; ability to handle stressful situations. • Able to maintain confidentiality and conduct work within appropriate privacy standards. • Demonstrated initiative and team spirit. • Able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities. • Must have a valid Ontario Drivers license, CPR and NVCI Certification
